About Maree
I commenced my formal training as a Psychologist at the University of Wollongong, successfully completing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology- BA (psyc) in 1994. Following on from my undergraduate degree I completed my Masters of Arts (psychology), (Developmental Psychopathology) -MA (psyc) in 1995. My 2 year registration training was completed though the Australian College of Applied Psychology where I was awarded Full Registration as a practising Psychologist in 1998.
Early Career
During the initial phase of my career I developed an interest in working within the Disability field across a number of different professional settings. I worked as a placement assessor and trainer for young persons with a disability, who had completed school and looking to gain supported employment in the general community.
Present Day....
Since 2015 I have been working in a private practice setting, within the Sutherland Shire, offering individualised counselling and therapies to a range of clients between the ages of 3 years to later adult years. My ongoing professional development and training allows me to offer evident based treatment approaches for a variety of issues and problems.
Further Training
I have been a Full Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) since 1998.
I have received specialised training in the area of;
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and ACT for children and Adolescents
- Child Centred play therapy
- Certificate in Couples Counselling
- Perinatal Mental Health
- Eating and Dieting Disorders
Later on.....
For a period of 10 years I worked for a non-government organisation that was focused on supporting children and their families impacted through a range of disabilities. During this period I facilitated parent, child and adolescent accredited group programs, offered individual and group counselling sessions.
